"While painting with my grandson, I find my creativity is invigorated when painting on a smaller canvas.  What I hope to capture, is  a sense of intimacy that seems so natural with a smaller surface. While my average canvas is about 48 by 48 inches and ignites in me a larger narrative, I find the smaller canvas in some ways similar to Japnaese Haiku poetry, where the writer has to be pristeen with his choice of words.
